Festival is for amateur choirs from abroad and Poland. Festival's goal is to promote high level sacred choral music. 

Choirs will be awarded diplomas and the best choir will be awarded GRAND PRIX - statuette of St Cecilia.

Choirs can participate in "competition" part in front of the Jury or as 
“non-competetive choirs” and take part only in the concerts.

Please use the application form and send it with attachments: - 5 copies of scores for the Jury (if you take part in competition singing") 
- good quality photo of your choir and artistic history (15-20 lines)
- copy of 100 Euro registration fee (for each category)

Die Jubiläumsveranstaltung des größten internationalen Chorwettbewerbs der Welt wird eine Premiere: Zum ersten Mal überhaupt findet eine INTERKULTUR-Veranstaltung auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent statt.

Willkommen in Tshwane, willkommen in Südafrika!

Alle Amateurchöre der Welt sind eingeladen, 11 Tage lang Sängerinnen und Sänger aus der ganzen Welt im Wettbewerb, bei Freundschaftskonzerten und großen Singprojekten zu begegnen.

Sie erleben hautnah die Stimmung, das ganz besondere Temperament und den Geist südafrikanischer Chormusik, teilen ihre gemeinsame Leidenschaft für das Singen und lassen sich voneinander inspirieren.

36th International Choral Festival and 24th International Choral Competition of Preveza, 5.- 8. 7. 2018 (Greece)

Competition’s Categories

All choirs can participate and compete in all six (6) categories. In the case of a choir wishing to participate in more than one category, they will not be charged with more than one participation fee. However they will have to fill in another application form for the second category, etc.

The categories of the competition are the following:

 Category A: Mixed choirs. Minimum of twenty two (22) singers.

 Category B: Equal Voices’ choirs (male or female). Minimum of twenty two (22) singers.

 Category C: Children’s choirs. Minimum of twenty two (22) singers and age limit of 17 years.

 Category D: Chamber choirs (mixed, male or female ensembles) with a maximum of 20 singers.

 Category E: Youth choirs (mixed or female ensembles). Minimum of twenty two (22) singers and age limit of 25 years.

 Category F: All kind of choirs.

International Jury Committee (I. J. C.)

An International Jury Committee, consisting of at least three well-known Greek and/or foreign musicians will judge the competitive part of the festival and mark each performance based on the following:

 Technique (rhythm, articulation and sound)

 Difficulty

 Intonation

 Interpretation, and

 Stylistic fidelity

The International Jury Committee allocates marks for the technical and artistic quality of the chosen programme and the overall quality of its performance. It will also take into account how well the choir communicates with the audience in a performance situation.

The results of the marking process will be unappeasable and irrefutable in all aspects.

Repertoire Requirements

Each choir of categories A, B, D and E must prepare an "a cappella", 15-20 minutes programme on free choice which should definitely include 3 pieces of sacred music (one composed before 1800, one composed between 1800 – 1950 and one composed after 1950 ) and a folk song from the choir's country of origin. If a choir wishes to include any other piece(s) of sacred music in the specific time , they can do so.

As far as category C(children's choirs) is concerned the choir should include all the above with the exception that two(2) of the pieces selected can be accompanied by piano.

For the category F each choir can perform any kind of programme it prefers. This category offers each choir the opportunity to express its own traditions and strengths. The program should reflect the choral music activities of different countries. Thoughtful consideration should be given to the dramatic arc of the overall program. The character and degree of difficulty of the program should correspond with the level of the choir. The performances could be “a cappella” or with instruments accompaniment.

All the choirs will be competing in works on free choice of intonation (identified in advance).

Marking - Medals

The I. J. C. will award prizes to the choirs, which will have achieved the following marks:

From 90, 00 to 100 points, Gold medal

From 80, 00 to 89, 99 points, Silver medal

From 70, 00 to 79, 99 points, Bronze medal

Marking – Prize Money

The following prize money will be awarded to the choirs with gold medal and with the highest mark in each category:

Category A: 500€ & 1st prize

Category B: 400€ & 1st prize

Category C: 400€ & 1st prize

Category D: 300€ & 1st prize

Category E: 400€ & 1st prize

Category F: 400€ & 1st prize

Marking – Special Prizes

The I. J. C. may award other special prizes:

The Festival

The idea of organising an international choir festival in the home of the Cantemus choral family was born 22 years ago as a result of the many acquaintances and friendships the choirs of the Cantemus Choral Institute had made during their tours of many places in the world. „Why not create an opportunity for our old friends to meet their other friends again  and to make new ones while  immersed in choral singing in the home of Cantemus?”

CONDUCTING MASTERCOURSELed by Dénes SzabóDénes Szabó (1947) is an outstanding figure of  Hungarian and international choral life. He studied music in Miskolc and Budapest. He founded the Cantemus Children's Choir in 1974 which since has grown into an independent organization with the inclusion of two other international standard choirs - the Pro Musica Girls' Choir and the Cantemus Adult Mixed Voice Choir.The conducting mastercourse offers choirmasters an opportunity to gain an insight into the secrets of choral conducting. During the course of the week both student and practising choral conductors will be able to gain useful experience and tips both on choral conducting technique and performance. The course will culminate in the closing concert of the Cantemus Children's Choir and the Pro Musica Girls' Choir conducted by the participant conductors. Participants of the conducting mastercourse will also have the opportunity to attend all the events of the 12th Cantemus International Choir Festival running at the same time. Access to the festival events is included in the participation fee.

The course is open to active participants and observers as well.
Participation fee:
400 EUR for active participants, 300 EUR  for observers
The participation fee includes food and accommodation in youth hostels from dinner 15 August to breakfast 22 August.

16th Festival di Primavera

International Festival for school, children´s and youth choirs

The Festival di Primavera (literally “spring festival”) is a flagship initiative of Feniarco, the Italian federation of choirs, and by now the most important Italian Festival dedicated to the school youth choirs. 
It takes place in Montecatini Terme, a nice city strategically located halfway between the charming Lucca and the beautiful Florence, close to the coastal town of Viareggio. 

The days in the festival will pass attending atelier with Italian and foreign choirs and participants, enjoying relaxing moments, concerts and having a lot of fun! Renown Italian and foreign lecturers will guarantee a high quality offer for the young participants and for their conductors.
The themes of the atelier will cover a variety of musical genres, from classical to traditional, with exciting performances and a big involvement of singers and audience during the concerts.
There will be 13 atelier for young singers plus one dedicated to adults, parents and accompanying persons (during the first week).

   Novinky z "Meeting music"

    ·         Unser großes Festivalchor-Projekt, der „Messias“ von Georg Friedrich Händel, kommt aufgrund der großen Nachfrage nun gleich zweimal zur Aufführung und zwar am 20. und am 21. Mai. Ihr singt zusammen mit anderen Chören aus aller Welt in der Béla Bartók National Concert Hall des müpa Budapest. Sucht Euch schnell Euren Wunschtermin aus und meldet Euch noch heute an! 

·        Für Eure Grand Prix-Auftritte und die Konzerte haben wir dieses Mal ganz besondere Veranstaltungsorte ausgesucht. Neben dem müpa mit seinem nationalen Konzertsaal, sind wir auch im Budapest Music Center (BMC), in der Vigadó-Konzerthalle der Pester Redoute und im Budapest Kongresszentrum zu Gast und überall erwarten Euch tolle Auftrittsmöglichkeiten. Every year, around 400 participants from Catalonia and all over the world  take part in a Singing week in the magnificent city of Barcelona!

Akce "meeting music" v roce 2018

Wir von meeting music nehmen Euch mit auf eine musikalische Reise quer durch Europa und diese Reise hat – richtig geraten – 8 Etappen und an jedem Etappenziel erwartet Euch ein Gastgeberchor, der Euch, zusammen mit uns, ein wunderbares Chortreffen bescheren wird.

Wir beginnen im März am wunderschönen Gardasee und mit dem Coro Voci Bianche Garda Trentino. Rund um den 1. Mai dürfen wir in Caorle & Venedig zu Gast beim Coro In Musica Gaudium sein. Im Mai wird dann an der schönen blauen Donau gesungen. Wie immer in Budapest mit dabei die Budapest Academic Choral Society!
Besonders sangesfreudig wird dann der Juli: Wir starten unseren sommerlichen Chormarathon in Toruń in Polen, unterstützt vom Astrolabium Chamber Choir, dürfen dann gleich im Anschluss zum allerersten Mal Chöre in der deutschen Hauptstadt Berlin zusammen mit dem Jugendchor Die Primaner des Georg-Friedrich-Händel-Gymnasiums begrüßen und landen dann schlussendlich in der Monatsmitte in der ewigen Stadt, Rom, begleitet vom Coro Città di Roma.
Nach zwei ruhigeren Monaten starten wir im Oktober nochmal richtig durch: Zuerst treffen wir den Coro Misto da Beira Interior in Fundão in Portugal, ehe wir unser aufregendes Chorjahr mit der neuen Herbstedition von „Venezia in Musica“, dieses Mal in Sacile & Venedig, und der Ass. Contra Camolli beschließen.

Wir laden Euch herzlich ein, uns bei einer (oder auch zwei) dieser 8 Etappen zu begleiten!
Ob Gemischter Chor, Senioren-, Frauen-, Männer- oder Kinderchor, ob Sacra, Gospel, Pop oder Folklore. Es ist für jeden etwas dabei!

10+ reasons to attend 36th International Choral Festival of Preveza, 5.- 8. 7. 2018, Greece

Dear choir,

1.      The International Choral Festival of Preveza is organised by autonomous choral organisation, namely the Choral Society of Preveza «Armonia» and it is of a non-profitable character.
2.      In its frames, a very trustworthy choral competition takes place, which is attended annually by numerous choirs from all over the world. Moreover, the fact that its Jury Committee consists of globally renowned choral personalities guarantees the validity and reliability of its results, while at the same time it has a strongly educational character since the choirs’ directors get both written and oral recommendations, as well as recordings of their choir’s performance in the competition.
3.      Its educational character is even more strengthened with the realization of a choral conducting workshop by globally renowned choral conducting professors.
4.      Preveza is a safe and easily accessible town at the northern-western edge of the area of Epirus.
5.      Tourist infrastructure is rather satisfying, while prices concerning accommodation and restaurants are rather low for any economic capacity.
6.      Preveza is full of archaeological sites since it is built on the ruins of Ancient Nikopolis, the city that left its mark in ancient years, since it was built in remembrance of the naval battle which had taken place in this area (Aktio) between the forces of Antonios and Kleopatra against the forces of Octavianos August.
7.      Furthermore, not far from Preveza there lies the Necromancy of Acheron, which was of great importance in the Ancient World.
8.      Preveza is a seaside town of great beauty, with sandy beaches and clear blue sea, while its historical centre is famous for its cobbled streets.
9.      Besides, Preveza is a good basis for excursions to the globally famous touristic resorts of Parga and Lefkada, and even Corfu and Ioannina.
10.     The ICF of Preveza is of a non-profitable character; that is why the participating choirs pay only a very low fee, which covers some organizational expenses.
11.     Each choir is responsible for their own accommodation and food. So, they always get better prices according to their needs and financial capacity.
12.     The soul of the ICF of Preveza is volunteering. Every year there are more than 300 volunteers, who give their own colour and features to the organization of the festival.
13.     All the businesses of the town help and support the festival, ensuring an idyllic atmosphere which the visitors will never forget.
14.     Its events are attended by more than 5000 people annually.

Vážení přátelé,

srdečně Vás ještě jednou zveme k účasti na našem jubilejním festivalu IFAS 2018.

Vzhledem k tomu, že máme ještě několik volných míst, prodlužujeme konečný termín přihlášek na 28. 2. 2018.

Prosíme Vás zatím pouze o nezávaznou informaci, jestli o účasti uvažujete, a případně v jaké kategorii.

Velmi děkujeme.

Zároveň měníme soutěžní program v kategorii A takto:

1.1. Soutěžní program pro kategorie A1, A2, A3

Délka vystoupení: limit 15 - 17 minut čistého času

a.      povinná skladba se mění na skladbu pouze doporučenou, za jejíž uvedení bude porota udělovat bonusové body (1-10% z výsledného bodového zisku) a hodnotit její nejlepší provedení.

A1 - Jiří Teml (*1935): Alleluia

A2 - Jan Málek (*1938): Vivat musica

A3 - Petr Eben (1929-2007):  De angelis

b.    polyfonní skladba z období renesance nebo baroka,

c.    skladba vzniklá po roce 1950,

d.   skladba z období hudebního romantismu (pouze kategorie A1, A3),

e.    další skladby dle vlastního výběru.

Vše a cappella !!! Pořadí soutěžních skladeb je libovolné.

Skladby uvedené v této kategorii nesmějí být použity v žádné z dalších soutěžních kategorii.

Připomínáme, že kategorie B1, B21, C1, C2 a BM jsou pro všechny typy sborů kromě dětských.

36th International Choral Festival of Preveza, 5.- 8. 7. 2018, Preveza, Řecko

Dear friends,

 The Choral Society “Armonia” of Preveza invites you to the events of the 36th International Choral Festival of Preveza, during which the 24th International Choral Music Competition will be held from 5 to 8 July 2018 in Preveza.

Deadline! 1^ST May 2018

In the frame of the 36th International Choral Festival of Preveza a seminar for choral conductors will be held in Preveza from 3rd to 5th July 2018. 

The seminar is addressed to choir conductors, instructors who conduct choirs as well as students attending music studies and students attending Music Schools- Conservatories who get involved with choir (conducting). 

The Seminar will be led by the internationally renowned conductors Ambrož Čopi and Theodora Pavlovitch. A lot of time and special attention will be given to practical work with a demonstrative choir; the demonstrative ensemble will be the Academic Choir of the University of Primorska. 

The seminar is intended for beginners as well as established choral conductors. Participation can be active or passive.

2. Mezinárodní soutěž pěveckých sboru CROATIA CANTAT, 21.– 25. 11. 2018, Rijeka, Chorvatsko

Pořadatelem soutěže je Croatian Choral Conductors Association (info@choralcroatia.com) a Cestovní kancelář Festa Olomouc s.r.o. (info@festamusicale.com). Soutěž je otevřena pro všechny druhy a typy sborů a vokálních skupin od 7 let a s minimálním počtem 4 zpěváků. Každé uskupení se může zúčastnit soutěže nejvýše ve dvou kategoriích. V soutěžním programu v délce 8 – 10 min. by měl uvést 3 – 4 nejméně tříhlasé skladby různého charakteru a stylu.

Soutěžní kategorie: A – Klasická hudba (světské i duchovní skladby z oblasti artificiální hudby, 1 skladba může být s klavírním doprovodem); B – Folklorní hudba (doprovod akustických nástrojů povolen, 1 skladba musí být a cappella); C – Populární hudba; D – Smíšená hudba (skladby z kategorií A, B, C, 1 skladba a cappella).
